V SKETCH SOLAR
Hybrid solar systems
Combine solar generation, the utility grid and compatible battery storage. Plan how the system powers selected loads, charges the battery and responds to a grid interruption.
- Energy sources
- Solar, grid and compatible battery
- Backup
- Requires a backup-capable design
- Battery planning
- Power, usable energy and reserve
How a hybrid system works
A hybrid arrangement coordinates solar, grid electricity and battery storage. The chosen equipment and settings determine when the battery charges or discharges and which circuits receive backup power. The design must be matched to the building and your priorities.
Choose the purpose first
- Backup for selected lights, fans, communications and other agreed loads
- Use of stored solar energy after daylight hours
- Coordinated generation and storage for a home or business
- A system planned around both electricity consumption and outage needs
Backup is a designed function
A hybrid label alone does not guarantee whole-building backup. Outage operation needs suitable equipment, safe grid isolation and correctly connected backup circuits. Confirm the backup output rating, supported loads and operating behaviour of the exact inverter model.
Size power and energy separately
Inverter power limits how much equipment can operate at once. Usable battery energy determines how long that load can run. A larger battery does not automatically increase the inverter’s output capacity. Review battery discharge limits, reserve settings and any motor-starting requirements.
- Essential-load list and simultaneous demand
- Desired backup duration and evening consumption
- Usable battery capacity and compatible inverter settings
- Single-phase or three-phase supply and the backup circuit arrangement
Equipment and integration
- Solar PV modules and mounting structure
- Compatible hybrid inverter and battery system
- Backup distribution board and transfer/isolation arrangement as required
- DC and AC protection, earthing and monitoring
- Site-specific export control or utility metering where applicable
Our coordination scope
- Understand electricity consumption and outage priorities
- Compare compatible inverter and battery options
- Agree solar size, storage, essential loads and installation scope
- Coordinate installation, operating settings, testing and handover
- Explain monitoring, reserve settings and maintenance requirements
